General Information for the Applicant

The information you provide on your application form will help to determine whether your presentation will be accepted in the symposium program. Please make sure that you read through all of the information thoroughly and complete in full all of the required sections.

The Scientific Program Committee has framed a set of principles guiding the work of the symposium. It understands Victimology as the scientific study of victims, of victimizations and of the reactions to both, on the individual, institutional and societal level. All contributions to the symposium - Papers Presentations, Parallel Sessions and Poster Sessions - must be related to one of the victimological approaches and to the general theme.

The general theme, "Victimology and Human Security," creates room for contributions in the field of General and Special Victimology, as well as those relating to victimizations by Human Rights violations including crime. In this framework, papers will mainly deal with the nine sub-themes.

The sub-theme list is not intended to be exhaustive or exclusive. The symposium will promote and reflect new and timely developments. Other related topics may be addressed such as post-traumatic stress disorder, restorative justice, restitution, compensation, victim services, witness assistance and such. The Scientific Program Committee will either include those topics under one of the existing sub-themes or a new theme might be developed from the submissions. Most paper presentations will be expected to address one of the above sub-themes.

If you intend to make more than one presentation, please fill out a separate application form for each presentation. Below you will find important presentation-specific details in the linked files.

In all linked texts, the term "WSV" refers to the World Society of Victimology as well as its partner, Tokiwa University, in organizing the symposium.
